Fixtures, Junior Fixtures and Cup Ties!
Written by Administrator

parkstrophy Details of the 2014 fixtures that will be played by the all the teams are now available on the website in the Fixtures tab.

Please take the time to have a look at whats on offer. It shows the 1st XI league fixtures for ESCA Division 2, and the 2nd XI league fixtures for Division 5. Our Sunday XI compete in the 30 over a side, Forth Cricket Union. Details of the 2014 FCU schedules are also now available.

For our younger members, then we have a full calendar of league games for both our U13 and U11 hard ball sides.

To be added to the fixture list are the Cup games, and for season 2014 we have entered the 1st XI into 5 competitions, including forays into 2 new midweek competitions.

We have been drawn at home to Morton in Round 2 of the President's Trophy. This is the 'Scottish Cup' of ESCA cricket, and as the inaugural holders it's a competition that we would like to win again. We don't want to become the 'Hibs of Cricket' with 100s of years between successes!

The Activcity 20/20 Cup see's us travel to Westquarter and our semi-final appearence in this competition in 2013 also qualifies us for the 2014 Masterton Trophy. This is where the 'Big Boys' of the Cricket Scotland Eastern Premier League take part, though we have been given a home draw against fellow ESCA team, Holy Cross.

As previously mentioned, we are taking part in 2 new midweek competitions this season, both of them based around Edinburgh Public Parks midweek cricket. Firstly, the Parks Trophy (pictured), one of the oldest cricket Trophies in Scotland, having been competed for as far back as 1891. This was originally only for clubs who played their matches on Public Parks in Edinburgh, but in recent years has been expanded to include clubs who have their own ground in the Edinburgh area. Within the Edinburgh midweek cricket circle, this is THE CUP to win. For our inaugural competition, we have been given a bye into the 2nd round, where we will be away to the winners of the Teuchters v Currie & Balerno tie.

We have also entered the Terry Newcombe Trophy, originally a 6-a-side competition for clubs with the same qualification criteria as for the Parks Trophy. This competition has also evolved into a 20 over a side thrash, and we will make our debut at home to the evil Scottish Widows, arch enemies of the more sophisticated and better Standard Life CC!!

So all in all we are providing a staggering minimum 84 games for our members this season and over and above this will be the Sunday Morning Kwik Cricket Festivals that are organised, details of which one's we will attend will be available soon.
