Junior Update
Written by Administrator

All our junior teams have been in action this week, albeit with mixed results.

The Under 11s started their campaign with a home victory against Watsonians, scoring 158 runs against 136. The bowlers taking wickets were Arsh Jindal, Jonathan Collings, Hamish McDonaldFraser Brown and Robert Burgess. The key run makers were Fraser, Robert, Hamish and captain Zane Hall. The team are in action again this friday away to East Lothian.

Our Kwik Cricketers made the trip to the borders for the Hawick festival along with their band of loyal followers who are all now well equipped with folding chairs, sun hats and very large picnic bags! After a stuttering start due to facing very strong local opposition and coming to terms with what seemed to be a completely different set of rules involving the use of a batting tee, the boys came away with a win v Kelso, a draw v Selkirk and defeats against Gala and Hawick. The memorable moments of the day were Jonathan Collings taking 5 excellent catches in the field and a debut performance by Matthew Vetesse, taking a wicket in his first over having taken the longest ever run up seen in Kwik cricket history. The team travel north this weekend for the Stirling festival which is one of the largest of the season with a total of 18 teams competing.

Finally the Under 13s managed to at last start a game following a number of conceded matches by other teams. Our very young and inexperienced U13 team took on East Lothian at Prestonpans with the home side posting 112 for 3. A promising first over from Zane Hall taking two wickets didn't continue as East Lothian piled on the runs. Amman Yakub managed a late wicket but the tally of extras from the Livingston bowling made the overall score a difficult one to achieve. Tushar Tomer put in a very strong batting performance retiring on 31, unfortunately the rest of the team couldn't match Tushar's batting prowess and Livi eventually lost by 51 runs.
