2016 Kwik Cricket Festival2 The under 13s game against Heriots was conceded on Monday by the opposition and the team now have to wait until Monday 13th June to face Penicuik away.

The under 11s had a bye this week and travel to RH Corstorphine on Friday.

This meant that all the focus fell on the Kwik Cricket team, and they certainly delivered. It was Livingston's turn to host the matches this week and on a gloriously sunny Sunday the club entertained teams from Watsonians, SMRH, Penicuik and Carlton with Livingston putting out two teams in a festival for the first time. We even had to dig out the green kit from the back of the cupboard, we daren't guess when this was last washed! The number of players representing Livingston this year increased to 18 with Jaget, Arsh and Sia playing their first games of the year. We also borrowed Maggie from Penicuik to make up our "Green" team to 8 players.

The "Yellows" comprising our core Kwik Cricketers and led by Marc Vettese had a number of really close games with their final game really getting the crowd going with Marc bowling the last ball on a hat trick needing to take a wicket to win, unfortunately the SMRH player just managed to defend his wicket to steal the game. The individual highlights for the "Yellows" included Adit taking a great catch on the boundary and hitting a six, a really strong batting partnership emerging between Lewis and Marc and all the team strongly supporting and backing up each other.

The "Greens" were led by Robert Burgess and comprised of our more experienced Kwik Cricketers who also regularly play hard ball games. Again this team was involved in a number of close games as well as a comfortable victory. The batting highlights came from Robert, Arsh, Duncan and Jaget with the strongest bowling figures from Hamish who managed 5 wickets on the day.

It was a great day for all the players and really great to see so much activity on the field. Thanks go to Mark Gray for organising the event, David Vettese and Paul Burgess for umpiring and Julie Burgess for coming out of retirement to do the teas having last done this nearly 40 years ago when her Dad played cricket in Lancashire! Julie also has the unenviable job of washing two sets of kit this week.

The "Yellows" are back in action next weekend in the under 9 festival hosted by SMRH.
