The first round of matches in the new LMS West Lothian League was completed Tuesday evening with Livi Storm completing an unexpected victory over Livi Zalmi.
Livi Storm, led by Hannah Short scored 157 - 6 in their 20 overs, highlights being the batting of Steven Connell (52* retired) & Shrey Awasthi (41 off 22 balls) and the bowling of Ahmed Ali (3-19 at an economy rate of 4.75). All of the top 5 got into double figures and there were also wickets for Hamad, Salman & Bilal.
In reply Livi Zalmi fell short with a score of 130-8 in 18.2 overs, a loss by 27 runs. The key wicket being the dismissal of Salman Aslam for 46 when the match was very much in the balance. Shazad Gul also contributed with 26 off 18 balls at the top of the order. The key wicket taker for the Storm was Travis Chandler with 3-32, with the remaining wickets being spread between Shrey, Steven, Karthik, John & Hannah.
Man of the match although on the losing side was Ahmed Ali who on top of his bowling performance scored 19 runs and was last man standing.
