Changes to Junior Cricket Formats Wednesday 2nd May
Written by Administrator

Weeman-1024x731 The format for Junior Cricket games is changing this year as Cricket Scotland adopt the successful change seen in Australia. There is now a very clear pathway for junior players to move from All Stars to Kwik Criket and then through Junior Formats 1 to 3. At Livingston Cricket Club we will be running All Stars throughout May, Kwik Cricket teams in the Forth Valley area and then running Junior Format 1 (under 12) and 2 (Under 14) teams within the Edinburgh area. In addition we will also be running in house matches on Wednesday nights. The change in formats is geared to increasing the level of enjoyment and learning of the game for youngsters and to play on appropriate length wickets, with shorter boundaries which will reduce the number of wides and increase the level of scoring. Our coaches have all been briefed on the changes and are ready to put the new formats into practice. If you want to learn more, Cricket Scotland have an excellent Junior section on their website which goes into detail for each of the different formats. see http://www.cricketscotland.com/play/junior-cricket-2/ for more details.
