Livingston Crash to Heavy Defeat at Carlton
Written by Administrator
Livingston Kingfishers suffered their first defeat of the season after being comprehensively turned over by a vibrant Carlton side at Grange Loan on Saturday. Skipper Lang won the toss invited Carlton to bat on a hard bouncy track which had a smattering of grass left on it.

After 3 overs, Carlton were 3 for 2 the next 4 batsmen saw off the bowling of Wilson and Aslam, and the surprisingly accurate effective spin of Crichton and made merry against the other bowlers. Interspersed with many glorious strokes were equally as many moments of good fortune as airborne after airborne shots just evaded hands and inside edges somehow missed the stumps. Even when the returning Aslam beat the outside edge of Bourne's bat 5 times in an over, the edge failed to materialise. A 140 run 4th wicket partnership between the beligerent Williamson and the scrabbling Bourne took the score beyond 200 and almost up to the 250 mark, closing on 242 for 5.  2 wickets for Aslam and 2 for Crichton.

In reply the pace and bounce of Stronach, who dropped down from the Premier Division due to the recent arrival of his first child (congrats Charlie!) and the penetrating accuracy of skipper Mackay meant that the run rate was always going to increase. Only Darren Hall, Kirk Crichton and Jim Wilson showed any form of resistance as the Kingfishers innings closed on a paltry 110. Out batted, out bowled, out fielded.  It doesn't get any more comprehensive than that.
