Livingston U13s came periously close to upsetting Heriots U13s at Dresselrigg last night when they went down by 1 run in a tight game in front of a decent crowd
Fielding first the U13s bowled and fielded magnificently, right from the 1st over when Conor Clark snaffled a catch off the bowling of Jazim Sohail. Further catches from Rizwan Iqbal, Andrew Wilcock and Jeremy Franks along restricted Heriots to 73 for 9 after their 20 obvers. Fine bowling from Jazim Sohail, Andrew Wilcock, Matthew Jepson, Tom Hilton and Greg Murdoch, all of whom took wickets with Matthew the pick of the figures with 3 for 11 from his 4 overs.
In reply Jazim Sohail and Andrew Wilcock put on 52 for the 1st wicket before Jazim chased a wide delivery and managed to spoon it to cover for a fine 26. Andrew subsequently reached 30 before he had to retire (U13 rules state batsmen have to retire when they reach 30). A few wickets fell cheaply and 5 was needed off the last over to win. Jeremy Franks came so close to wining the game for the young Kingfishers when he crashed a pull shot that stopped just short of the boundary leaving them 2 to win off the last ball. Unfortunately Jeremy could not repeat the shot and Heriots snuck home by the narrowest of margins.
A great effort by the lads and almost just rewards for the effort put into fielding and catching practises over the last week or so.
