The lake continues to form at Dresselrigg |
For all you anoraks out there.....Thursday 12th July was a special day this year. It was the last dry day that we had in Livingston, and one of only 8 dry days since 11th June! That's an astounding 36 wet days in the last 44 (up to and including today!) in what is supposedly middle of summer!! |
Its bad enough that it rains as often, but the volume of rain is frightening. 233mm of rain in that period, (thats 9.5 inches for you old timers out there). Since the end of last season we have had nearly 1100mm of rain. Doesn't sound a lot till you realise that is over 3 and half foot of rain! Combine that with the famous Livingston clay soil, is it any wonder that the ground now consistently resembles a marshland? Where is the warm weather that so many feared from global warming?
So any suggestions as to how we can deal with the volume of rain in order to protect our cricket season are greatly welcomed... Grandoise ideas will be thrown out unless you can finance them yourself!
Off to find me waders for the weekend games......
