Kingfishers fail in Grange Runchase. |

Livingston visited the home of Scottish Cricket on Saturday to face 2nd in the table Grange, and despite a brave attempt came home with their 5th successive defeat. Skipper Neil Jukes lost the toss (again!) and Grange elected to bat.
The Kingfishers got off to the perfect start when Hamad Ahmed had the prolific Parkinson adjudged lbw for a duck third ball of the match. it was a while before the next wicket fell though as opener McLean reached his half century as did number 3, Landsberg. A flurry of wickets then fell as Livi successfully strived for some reward on a flat pitch, before the tail wagged for Grange to see them finish on 216 for 8 after 50 overs.
In reply, Salman Aslam took 12 off the 2nd over and then the (in)famous Livingston collapse kicked in. 46 for 6 after 15 overs looked as shaky as Richard Drewett after a few bottles of plonk. Feraz Asghar joined Iain Murdoch and batting sensibly adding 101 for the 7th wicket in the course of 23 overs. This was a new 7th wicket record partnership, breaking the record set in the first game of this season. Ashgar was the first to fall, caught off the bowling of the very impressive Meakin for 43, a top knock in difficult circumstances. With 13 overs left Livi needed 5 and over, and with the fast outfield the potential win was there. Unfortunately Murdoch fell soon after for a fine 50, and despite a brave effort from Jim Wilson, Iain Thomson and Hamad Ahmed we fell 34 funs short, all out for 182 in the 45th over...
Its a pity that we didn't have another couple of wickets in hand, as we could have pushed them right to the wire, although Grange were well marshalled by skipper Creasey. Maybe if we had managed to keep Grange down to under 200 then we might have snuck over the line. 4 games left, we'd best start winning soon.
