Livi Find that Winning Feeling
Written by Administrator
Livingston 1st XI finally remembered how to win on Saturday with a low scoring triumph over Heriots at a sunny Dresselrigg.  Skipper Neil Jukes, won the toss and decided to bat after the groundsmans suggested it would be a belter of a wicket.......

.... 40 overs later we were all out for 100 with only Salman Aslam getting into the 20's. Heriots Colin Thomson showed the benefit of line and length bowling with 4 wickets.

In reply Heriots crashed to 18 for 3 as Kirk Cricketon pulled off 3 great catches at short sq leg off the bowling of Ian Thomson, including the vital wicket of Litster. However a recovery of sorts led by opener Sherman looked to have swung the game back in favour of Heriots before the loss of 4 quick wickets left the game back in the balance. A 9th wicket stand between Sherman and Jacobs eaked the game closer for Heriots before Ian Thomson bowled Jacobs round his legs..  Even then Sherman completed his 50 and took the game within a couple of blows of victory before Jim Wilson cleaned up last man McCraw with 7 runs needed.  Ian Thomson finished with 4 wickets, and 2 apiece for Kirk Crichton and Salman Aslam. A great result and a badly needed win, our first since defeating top of the table MUFs in early May. A word on Heriots opener Sherman who carried his bat and hit a fine unbeaten 50 with some powerful hitting interlaced with some fortuitous strokes.

Next week sees the Kingfishers head to Fife for the crunch tie against Freuchie.
