LIVI 2's Lose out in tight match
Written by Darren Hall
Livingston 2's 108 all out
lost to
Edinburgh South 2's 110-8
Livingston lost the toss and were invited to bat, as we would have done anyway. The going was very slow from early on and this proved to be the way it was goind to be for the whole match.Bowering (0),Baker (0) and Anwar (2) were dismised by the 12th over . Heaney joined Hall at the crease for 14 overs before being stumped on 14, Hilton was LBW for 2 in the 26th over with a score of 62. Franks joined Hall for 6 overs before Halls resistance was broken and was caught on 43. Franks continued on to a good 23 before being caught. last man out was Young for a golden duck leaving Clark unbeaten on 2.
108 was the score posted not much but something to bowl at.
Hall 43
Franks 23

In reply Edinburgh South got off to a bit of a flier before Mackay got the opener LBW (again) with the score on 40 in the 10th over. Anwar then joined Mackay at the other end and the pair bowled tightly with Mackay picking up a further wicket. At drinks Edinburgh had got 70 runs on the board. Hall paired up with Anwar for a double spin attack and bowled tidily and picked up a couple of wickets each but Edinburgh made slow progress towards the total. the introduction of Reid had an instant impact taking a wicket with his 1st ball and continued to bowl straight and picked up another wicket in his 3rd over, the game was still in the balance at 102-8 but the tail hung on to see Edinburgh home in the 36th over.
Mackay 9 1 15 2
Anwar 9 2 17 2
Hall 9 2 23 2
Reid 4.3 0 22 2

A defeat but alot of positives to be taken from such a spirited fielding performance

Very good fielding and bowling perfomance too. Just need to learn to use that wooden thing.

The weather was nice too...

Definitely a slow-bowlers paradise that pitch - turn and bounce! Particularly enjpyed my second wicket which spun more than a foot outside off, back to clip the top of the middle stump.

Sorry about the batting again lads, my form seems to have deserted me completely - not hitting it uppishly / leading edges in the direction of mid-on might help.

Fortunately, Dunbar lost too - very heavily....so top 4 looks likely :-)

the last weekend of the season see 4th broomhall vs 5th dunbar so weather permitting neither will win all their remaining games, but we need to do it ourselves and not rely on others. Big match this weekend against Fauldhouse!
