2's seal promotion
Written by Darren Hall

11 man Largo 3's  113-8
lost to
9 man Livingston 2's  115-5

The magnificent 9 of Livingston 2's pulled off an unlikely win in St.Andrews to seal promotion back into Division 6.

On a plastic track surrounded by 3 week uncut outfield top tosser Hall won again and decided to bowl. The experience of Mackay and the energetic youthfulness of Thomas Hilton opened the bowling and Hilton picked up the 1st wicket in the 6th over caught by Hall with the batsman fending off a quick short ball. Mackay got the other opener in the 11th over with the score on 28. Tight bowling and the long outfield prevented any quick scoring and in the 17th over Franks took the 3rd wicket with the score on 38, and at drinks Largo were on 44. The skipper joined in the wicket taking in the 27th over and Franks again in the 32nd with the score on 69.Clarke bowling an excellent spell bowled a double wicket maiden in the 42nd over and got his third victim in the 44th leaving Hall to bowl a frustrating last over only conceding a single.
An excellent fielding and bowling display lead by two 16 year olds and a 13 year old, hats off to them.
Clark 9-2-14-3
Franks 9-2-29-2
Mackay 9-3-18-1
T Hilton 9-1-22-1
Hall 9-1-25-1

In reply last weeks hero Jack was bowled 2nd ball, which paved the way for this weeks hero Jeremy to join Colin at the crease, patience was very much the key to the game with Heaney and Franks batting safely through to drinks with a 50 run partnership. drinks did take it's usual wicket with Heaney(15) being bowled. Hall was the next man in who decided to try to push the runs along and scored a quick 21 in 6 overs before being caught with the score taken up to 81. Thomas joined Jeremy at the crease and the pair scored freely (nice 6 for Thomas) before Franks was dismissed for 37 with the total on 98. Roddy(3*) joined Thomas and the pair took the score to 2 short of victory before Thomas(16) was caught going for the winning runs. Clarky hit the winning runs in the 38th over to complete the win.
A superb patient batting performance from Jeremy batting 34 over for his match winning 37 and nearly saw us home himself.
Franks 37
Hall 21
T Hilton 16
Heaney 15

Well done lads. Sounds like a good performance in a tricky situation.

Apologies to the team for me not being able to play ( albeit i'd have been there to make up the numbers by the sounds of things :P ).
