Livingston: 131 all out (38.5 overs)
Grange III: 38 all out (18.3 overs)
The Dresselrigg pitch was once again soft, damp and awkward, but having played all matches during August (in stark contrast to the last two years), Jim's grounds keeping should be roundly congratulated.
Livingston were put in to bat, and again wasted a good start. The ever-reliable Anand took advantage of some casual fielding to score 51, supported by an uncharacteristicly patient 22 from Krishna, promoted up the order. However, the loss of 6 wickets for 16 runs left the score at 99-8. Jazim was the only other batsman to make double figures, accompanying the tail to reach 131 all out, as Livingston once again failed to bat out the overs. The 5 wicket haul to Grange's accurate but painfully slow off spinner showed the value of such bowling on the Dresselrigg pitch, and what we are missing from our attack.
The Grange batting looked completely out of its depth away from the even loveliness of their home pitches. After the early dismissal of their openers, they batted like they had somewhere better to be (aparently this was back at their clubhouse celebrating with their first XI who had just wrapped up the National League). Grange were dismissed for 38 in 19 overs, with 6 ducks. The No.6, who was unbeaten on 22, was the only batsman to score more than 2. Ramesh's 6 wicket haul will be the best figures in Div 3. The other highlight was Navid's never previously witnessed speed in taking a spectacular diving catch at silly cover point.
Needing the win to have a chance of catching Clackmannan and taking the Division 3 title, it was disappointing and anticlimatic to hear that Haddington had given them a walkover in the final game, and the afternoon's efforts were ultimately just for pride.
