mixed start for u11's- one loss, one win
Written by Mark Gray

Sunday saw the u11's play their first indoor games of the winter. With four who have never played indoor cricket, of which two had never played cricket before, these were going to be challenging games for the new u11 captain Ewan Hall.

First game; Livingston were against Carlton, with Carlton winning the toss and deciding to field first, Liivngston found the bowling challenging. First pair Aidan and Zane struggled against a ball that seemed to want to just hover in the air for catches. Losing 3 wickets to catches Livingston were in trouble. Ewan and Fraser did well adding 10 runs to the score with only one wicket being lost, followed by Callum and Robert who mangaged to to score 4 runs and lose only one wicket. This left it up to the last pair Craig and Ewan to post a good score if we were to have any chance. The Carlton bowlers proved two much with only 2 runs being scored and one wicket falling.

In response, Carlton were soon ahead of Livi's run rate losing only one wicket in the 6th over to Craig.

Final score:

Livingston 200

Carlton 261

Second game was against SMRH with Ewan losing the toss again, Livi were put in to bat first. Zane and Jake opened the batting scoring 15 runs for no lose, followed by Robert and Johnathan who managed to add 3 runs to the score with the lose of one wicket. Robert and Callum managed to lose no wickets helped by the high number of wides increasing Livi's score by 13, giving the final pair Ewan and Criag a good foundation to build on, increasing the score by 29 runs without lose. A good innings by Livi, losing only one wicket.

SMRH started well and were ahead of the run rate before Jake took a wicket in the 5th over, criag then bowled well in the 7th over ensuring that SMRH needed 11 runs in the last over. Zane's  first ball struck the middle stump adding 5 runs to the required score for SMRH to win, Two balls later and Zane struck again ensureing that SMRH needed 19 runs off three balls, with only 2 runs conceded with the last three balls the U11's had their first win under their new Captain .

Final score

Livngston 260

SMRH 243

u11 players were: Ewan, Zane, Craig, Robert, Callum, Jake,Johnathan, Aidan, Fraser.
