The club is delighted to announce that for this season we will have an overseas amateur from South Africa playing. Ruan Erasmus (pictured) currently plays for the Green Point Cricket Club in Cape Town, having previously played in Pretoria for Christian Brothers Church Old Boys. Ruan is a batsman and orthodox left arm spinner and will be arriving on 17th April, in time to play in our pre season friendly v Fauldhouse.
"It is nearly 10 years since we last had an overseas amateur playing for the club, I'm delighted that Ruan has decided to join us. This is just one step in our plans to turn Livingston into one of the leading clubs in Scotland, providing cricket for players of all abilities." said Robert Bowering, Director of Cricket.
Ruan will not only be playing for us but will be supporting our coaches including Andy Carswell our new Cricket West Lothian coach in the development of our players, especially our juniors. Ruan has said "I am very keen on playing sports in different conditions and environments and I am excited at the prospect of playing cricket in your beautiful country and to enhance my coaching skills"
"This is hopefully the start of an exciting time for the club, and wish Ruan all the best for the season ahead and ask that we make him welcome to our club" Iain Murdoch, Club Chairman
I am sure you will all make Ruan very welcome, it would be especially good if as many as possible could be around for the Fauldhouse friendly on 18th April to welcome him.
