The 1s returned to form with a comprehensive victory against Westquarter on Saturday.
Following some dodgy routes taken the team eventually all arrived at the home of Westquarter on a nice sunny day, albeit a bit blowy. Bobby lost the toss and was put into bat as the last remaining members of the team arrived at the ground.
Bobby hit the first ball of the match for 4 through the covers, however after that it was a fairly slow and steady start, with Fahad and Bobby putting on 36 for the opening partnership before Fahad (10) unluckily smacked a full toss straight into the hands of a backward square leg, who didn't have to move. Bobby (37) soon followed, edging a drive to the keeper. 52 had been scored at this stage when Ruan and Jazim came together and they immediately increased the tempo in particular Jazim, with Ruan feeding him the strike. Their running between the wickets had the fielders all over the place (running 9, 3s in their record breaking partnership). The century stand came within 14 overs and between them they took the score onto 193, a stand of 141, a record 3rd wicket stand for the club. Ruan (46) was the one to depart being well caught at mid wicket.
It was just a matter of time before Jazim would get his century, albeit he was cheered on 98 and had to be told he hadn't got their just yet. Hamad and Soby quickly followed before Greg (29) and Ahmed (20) turned on the style in the last 5 overs. This time it was the tiring Jazim who was feeding them the strike as the pair of them hit some glorious 6s. At the end of our 45 overs Livingston had made 280-6. In the process Jazim had scored 110 not out and gone past 2000 runs for the club at all age groups, just pipping Soby to the landmark, who will get there in the next week or two.
In reply Westquarter really struggled from the outset, Zeeshan (1-3) clean bowling their opener in the first over. Ahmed (0-13) bowled well for 5 overs constantly beating the bat but with no luck. Soby (1-8) was the next to make a breakthrough with the batsman gloving the ball to keeper Fahad. Ramesh (1-8) also picking up a good wicket.
Prior to this Alan (2-1) had bowled 4 very effective overs dismissing their number 3 & 4 batsmen and adding to his impressive performances so far this season. Bobby then decided to give 2 of his other bowlers a good spell. Ruan getting his longest spell since coming to the club bowling 7 overs straight (2-15) and Hamad also took a couple of wickets. Westquarters resistance was drawn out, defending for 36 overs in accumulating their total of 75.
It was a crushing victory by 205 runs which has taken us into 2nd position in the Division. (Current League Tables HERE) This coming Saturday we play 3rd place Clackmannan at home, a team who seem to be on a bit of a charge of their own at the moment, having bowled Broomhall out for 16 on Saturday.

Its a record 3rd wicket stand only forthe 1st XI...... didn't manage to surpass the 214* from Jarvo and Hodgson in a 2s game....
