at a soggy but playable Dresselrigg
Morton 1's 207-7
beat
Livingston 2's 140 all out
oohh and it could have been soo much worse
Morton won the toss and elected to bat.
a perfect start with Kamran taking a wicket with the 1st delivery of the game followed by another in the 6th over by Heaney saw Morton on 20-2.then a 3rd wicket stand of 81 took Morton away to 101 before the skipper chipped in with a wicket in the 28th over and again in 34th with the score on 136. hard hitting in the last 10 overs saw morton past the 200 mark with andrew wilcock and kamran picking up a wicket each.Young Thomas Hilton bowled the stand out spells of the match showing great control and pace finishing 8-0-25-1. Morton posted 207-7 and we went for tea.
In reply it was the worst of starts i have ever seen as Livingston flopped to 7-4 in 6 overs. Skipper Hall introduced some sence to batting but wickets continued to tumble at the other end untill the injured Colin Heaney came to the wicket batting at no.10 with the score on 25. Many tarets were set avoiding annihilation was the first followed by humiliation, a good beating etc.... eventually with stout defence and punishing 'THE BAD BALL' Myself and Colin put on 105
for the 9th wicket in 22 overs before the skipper nicked one to the wicket keeper (69) and Cheaney himself was dismissed on 35 3 overs later.
again the 2's performed better in the second encounter than the first but the loss is a real blow to any survival hopes.
