Livingston maintained their push for promotion with another successful run chase.
Penicuik II: 217
Livingston: 218-6 (45.0 overs)
Livingston travelled to Penicuik on a drizzly afternoon. Penicuik chose to bat on a track that played more truly than its patchy appearance suggested, while they waited for their 11th player, and Jim went to Tescos to look for trowsers. Senthil found pace in the wicket, and Shiv kept it tight, but breakthroughs did not come. The Penicuik openers continued through the change bowlers, only occassionally seeming troubled, while lacklustre fielding gave too many easy runs away. Both eventually fell to Naved. After 7 right arm seamers had been tried, the innings finally turned with a bamboozling spell from Anand, who took wickets with leg breaks, wrong-uns and fast balls. Lakhmir's left arm spin also caused some difficulty. Shiv returned, and was rewarded with two wickets, as the Penicuik tail pushed the score on. They were eventually dismissed on the final ball of the innings, with a creditable total.
Livingston's reply starter brightly, but both Andrew and Mark fell to sharp catches before establishing a big score. The innings stagnated for a few overs, with the batsmen unable to pierce the 10 man field or to take quick singles. Lakhmir holed out, and Naved was bowled forcing the run rate. Senthil and Anand came to the crease in the 32nd over, and put together a match winning partnership. Anand looked assured and comfortable, while Senthil blasted the bowling to all corners. His 9 boundaries included a pull shot that cleared the first row of neighbouring houses and a straight driven 6 for the winning runs.
The game was dominated by good batting. Penicuik batted better than their early season bottom-of-the-table form might have predicted, and exposed the lack of variety in Livingston's bowler heavy line up. Having comfortably chased down another large target, it is encouraging to see that Livi have many options for run scoring. However, Penicuik's attack was below Division 3 standard. Other match highlights were Andrew's catching in the deep, Lakhmir's backchat to the Penicuik banter, and of course the Penicuik teas.

And before I get reported to the Child Protection mob, the wee chubby ginger kid walked in front of the camera!
I have pics from 1's games against Penicuik and WL....and 2's against Corstorphine. Will post some when I get the chance.
It's even nicer to hear that xYDO took some pictures and videos!!!
(have a look at Carltoncc.co.uk to see how they include pictures with their articles... Makes the front page look so much better than ours does..though you can actually do that on our front page as well!! )
Its not nice to hear junior 'dissing' Senior though
xYDO... i'll see if i can upload some form of streamline system to allow you to post the video as well!!!
I know I'm one of the guilty too but the fancy names don't give out the person as known by his name in normal circumstances :)... i.e. their NAMES... so can people add their initials after the comment... so that I know who puts a wrong foot against me ;)
So who's bowling was it to injure Gordon in a bandaged but still smiling condition :)...
oh I'm Lakhmir...btw...
Call me a lame 3rd class rated batsman who doesn't has a scoobie about the gentleman's game.. NOT Monty please....
I'd go with Spanking for your name Faisal.... just right ... just about actually...
YDO is an accronym for Youth Development Officer....a role I filled with great pride for a number of years at the club. I then stopped fulfilling the role and so became the ex-YDO ....or XYDO. This went a bit further by referring to Andrew, my son, as Junior ex-Youth Development Officer....or JXYDO.
Some folk refer to me as YDO....pronounced Wide-oh!
Clear as mud?
Boomshaka - Lakh (now there's a nick name that could catch on - You're not the first and you won't be the last to call me Spanking. If nets is anything to judge it by, every man, whatever their skill, thinks the way to play me is to try and smack my deliveries into the stratosphere :)
I let my bowling (and batting) on a saturday do the talking for me
Mud-pie for example could be Iain Murdoch.
JMud-pie could be....
I'm David by the way. Long time Cheaney and King of Spain fan, recently big fan of future Livi legend: Connor Clarke.
